Dennis Stearns, CFP®, president of Stearns Financial Services Group, was named the Small Business Advocate for 2009 by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made at the Chamber’s Business Awards Luncheon – held in conjunction with the Piedmont Triad Business Showcase – on May 14, 2009 at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.
The Small Business Advocate of the Year award was designed to honor individuals who provide technical assistance to small businesses or supporters of entrepreneurial development, promote small business as a significant form of economic development and initiate written or spoken advocacy for small business issues and initiatives.
“As a business owner, I am dedicated to assisting the success of local entrepreneurs whenever I can, as they have proved time and again that they are the primary driver of a strong economy,” says Stearns. “I’m honored by the recognition my efforts have received from the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce today – it’s so important that we all work together to ensure the Greensboro/Triad community survives our current financial crisis and continues to grow and thrive in the future.”
Stearns was also recently named the 2008 Business Leader Media Triad Entrepreneur of the Year, the only financial services firm to win the award in 2008 in the Business Leader multi-state network. Stearns has been called the “leading futurist in the financial planning industry” by the Financial Planning Association and has led numerous think tanks on the economy, investing trends and sound retirement planning.
